The young generations including students here have taken oath for preventing corruption through launching social movement involving common people in building a corruption-free developed Bangladesh.They took the oath at an anti-corruption rally organised for the youths and students by RDRS Bangladesh under its Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project with the assistances of German Development Cooperation (GIZ) at Paglapeer School & College under Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon.The students, teachers and members of the ‘Satota Sangha’ of Haridebpur High School, Gangahori High School and Paglapeer School and College of the same area participated in the rally.General Secretary of the District Corruption Prevention Committee (DCPC) and valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain attended the rally as the chief guest with Principal of Paglapeer School and College Joynal Abedin in the chair.Headmaster of Haridebpur High School Mritunjoy Roy and teacher Laksman Tara addressed the rally as the special guests.Local public representatives, civil society members, professionals and community leaders also participated in the rally moderated by District Manager of the JRCP Project Ershad Md. Russel and its Upazila Manager Tahmina Akhter.The speakers put special emphasis on educating the students on the values of honesty for applying those to have positive impacts on their behaviour for building a corruption free society to make the hard- earned independence meaningful for every citizen.
The speakers said that RDRS Bangladesh has been implementing the one-year term JRCP Project in 50 secondary level schools of nine unions under Sadar and Kawnia upazilas in the district.The NGO has been implementing the project to reduce impact of corruption over the communities in the project area under funding of GIZ with assistances of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, they said The chief guest said prevention of corruption is not possible only through creation of laws and suggested for launching social movement involving the young generations, youths and students for eradicating corruption from every sphere of the society.At the end, the chief guest led the oath-taking ceremony when the students vowed for creating social renaissance through launching vigorous social movement in preventing corruption to accelerate development in building a developed nation in the future. -BSS, Rangpur
