Yunus launches Yunus Social Business Week in China

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus launched Yunus Social Business Week, China, in Beijing on October 9. This is a week-long program taking Professor Yunus from Beijing, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzen, and Hong Kong. He will be addressing government officials, business leaders, and civil society activists in each city. He will also address students at university campuses on social business and building towards sustainable world.At the opening dinner of China Yunus Social Business Week in Beijing professors from universities, business leaders from investment companies, microfinance leaders were present. Young entrepreneur Mr. Wang Ke, CEO of Koudai.com a multi-billion dollar company, second to Alibaba in mobile phone penetration, hosted the opening dinner. He is interested in spreading microcredit through his mobile phone platform and set up social business joint ventures with Grameen China.  Professor Yunus delivered a speech, focused on social business activities around the world, particularly in China.
Mr. Gao Zhan, CEO of Grameen China, briefly introduced Grameen China and its vision. Professor Latifee, Managing Director of Grameen Trust, looked back on the history of Grameen Trust’s presence in China beginning from 1990 and its progress over the years.  He appreciated the establishment of Grameen China and thanked the team of Grameen China for their initiatives in carrying out their social business programs, and invited the participants to join Social Business movement in china and beyond.
