Govt agents torch vehicles, blame opposition: Tariqul

Dhaka – BNP standing committee member Tariqul Islam on Sunday alleged that the government agents were torching vehicles and the blame was being shifted to the opposition with a view to oppressing the opposition men more.“No activist of our party is involved in torching vehicles; rather, the government has been doing it by its agents and shifting the blame to opposition,” he told the reporters during the hartal hours in front of BNP’s Naya Paltan central office in the city.
On Friday, the BNP-led 18-party alliance announced country-wide dawn to dusk hartal for Sunday protesting the recent hike of fuel prices.
Tariqul once again urged the government to resign and to hold election under non-party caretaker government. “We request the government to resign and arrange polls under non-party caretaker government to save the country from anarchy,” he said.
Terming the ongoing hartal a success, the BNP leader claimed that the people expressed solidarity with the hartal as it was called for the interest of the people.
