A man was killed and at least 19 others went missing as a bus plunged into a pond at Shologhar on Dhaka-Maowa Highway in Sreenagar upazila on Friday noon.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.In-charge of Hachara Highway Police Camp Sergeant Mohammad Hasan said the Dohar-bound bus carrying 60 passengers skidded off the road and fell into the roadside pond around 1:30 pm as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving a passenger dead on the spot.
Forty passengers of the bus were rescued by local people.
Fire service men and police rushed to the spot and have been trying to salvage the sunken bus.- UNB
