Dhaka, May 17 : A 32-year-old woman was killed and her son injured as a speeding car hit them while they were crossing the road in Dhaka’s Gulshan Monday.The deceased was identified as Shahinur Akhtar, the mother of five sons and one daughter, of Noakhali’s Begumganj. Shahinur worked as a domestic help in Gulshan and lived in Shahjadpur.
Police said Shahinur was returning home from work with her seven-year-old son Abid at around 11:45am. Suddenly, a speeding car hit them and fled the scene.
Critically injured, the mother and the son were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Shahinur succumbed to her injuries at around 12:45am, said Sub-Inspector Hafizur Rahman of Gulshan Police Station.
Abid is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical, Hafizur said, adding that Shahinur’s body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.
