A woman was killed and 39 people were injured as a storm swept over
the district on Saturday night.The deceased could not be identified.
The violent storm also damaged many houses and uprooted a large number
of trees. It also damaged standing IRRI-Boro crops on vast tracts of
land.
A 20-km traffic jam was created from Koddarmore of Bangabandhu bridge
west side link road to Chnadaikona of Dhaka-Bogra highway as a large
number of trees fell on the road during the storm, causing sufferings
to the commuters.
Later, police took initiative to remove the trees from the road.
