A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over fishing in a water body in Baghmara upazila on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, 35, son of Zabed Ali, resident of Shreepur village of the upazila.
Abdul Hamid, officer-in-charge of Baghmara Police Station, said Ashraful Islam along with some fishermen went to the water body “Khoirar beel” to catch fish in the evening.
Informed, guards of the water body rushed in and obstructed them.
At one stage, both the groups equipped with weapons locked in a fierce clash.
They exploded crude bombs, leaving 11 people, including Ashraful, injured.
Ashraful succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
