10 hurt in BGB-smugglers clash at Phulbari

At least 10 persons including seven BGB members were injured in a
clash among BGB members and smugglers at Anantapur border under
Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district at 9.30 pm on Tuesday.
BGB members fired six rounds to tackle the situation.
Border and BGB sources said in secret information a group of BGB
members numbering eight raided in the house of one Abdul Gafur of
Anantapur border under the upazila. The smugglers however attacked the
BGB members causing injuries to seven BGB members.
When the situation went out of control BGB members fired six rounds
for self-defence.  Three smugglers including a woman were injured.
Of them, Anju, 36 and Touhidul, 33 were admitted to Kurigram Sadar
Hospital and when their condition deteriorated they were shifted to
Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Company Commander of Kashipur BOP Subeder Roy Mohon admitted the
incident. Commanding Officer (CO) of Kurigram 45 BGB Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Zeaul Haque Khaled admitted the incident and told
our correspondent that hey are preparing to file a case in this
connection.
Officer-in Charge of Phulbari police station Nasir Uddin said on
Wednesday that police have been deployed there and the situation is
under control. -Our Correspondent
