10 killed 14 injured in 8 accidents across country

Two people, including a woman, were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Gauripur-Nayergaon road at Daudkandi upazila in the district on Wednesday.The deceased were identified as Lutfa Begum, 55, wife of Siddiqur Rahaman from Purba Kawadi area of Daudkandi and Jisan, 17, son of Matiur Rahman, hailed from Chandpur district.
Sources said a Gauripur-bound motorcycle hit Lutfa Begum and plunged into a roadside ditch, leaving Lutfa died on the spot and three motorcyclists injured.
The injured motorcyclists were rushed to Matlab South Hospital, where on duty doctor declared critically injured Jisan dead
In Bogra at least two people were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident in Dhankundi area on Dhaka-Bogra highway at Sherpur upazila in the district on the day.
The deceased were identified as Shariful Sarder, 35, son of late Toyez Sarder of Shibganj upazila and Anwara, 16, daughter of Javed Ali.
Sub-Inspector of Sherpur Thana M Farul told journalists that a Dhaka-bound passenger bus collided with a truck in the area, leaving them dead on the spot and 10 others injured.
The injured were rushed to different hospitals and clinics in the area, he added.
CHITTAGONG: A female worker was killed and two others were injured in a road crash at Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) of the district on Wednesday.
The victim’s name could not be known immediately but she worked as a swing operator with TSL section of ‘Young One’ factory.
Sources said a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying a number of workers turned turtle after a speedy bus had hit it at EPZ sector-7 in front of C-Text factory, leaving three women critically injured.
Later, the injured rushed to Chittangong Medical College Hospital where on duty doctor declared one of them dead.
CEPZ Thana Officer-in-Charge Abul Monsur confirmed the news.
Two passengers were killed as they fell from the roof top of a speeding train at Gendaria Railway Station in Dhaka city on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Nuru Mia, 40 and Jakir Hossain, 30.
Witness said many passengers had climbed to the roof top of the train due to over crowding. As the train reached Gendaria station the hit the platform root at about 11:30am. One Zakir Hossain dead on the spot and another passenger Nuru was injured critically.
Later, Nuru was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead around 12:10pm.
Sub-Inspector of Kamalapur GRP Thana Anwar Kamal said: “The Dhaka-bound train reached with over loaded passengers and the station and some passengers fell from the roof of the train.”
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue, he added.
In Natore a young man was killed as a train knocked him down in Madhovnagar station on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Sirajul Islam, 28, son of Syed Ali, hailed from Chandannagar village under Sonatola Upazila in Bogra district.
Sources said passenger Sirajul went under the wheels of a train as he hit a bridge pillar while watching the outside scenes standing at the footboard of the moving train and died on the spot.
Confirming the news Madhavnagar Rail Station Master Noor-e-Alam Dewan said, “The victim was coming from Dhaka to Lalamonirhat in Eid vacation.”
In Habiganj a police constable was killed in a road accident at Biharipur under Bahubal upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Afsar Uddin, 30, son of Miadhan Ali of Lakhai upazila. He used to work at Sylhet police lines as postal transport man.
Sources said a rashly driven pickup van crashed onto the motorbike of Afsar in Biharipur area of Mirpur-Srimangal road while he was returning to his workplace at about 3:00pm, leaving him and another persn critically injured.
They were rushed to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where Afsar succumbed to his injuries.
Officer-in-Charge of Bahubal Model Thana Jalal Uddin confirmed the death.
In yet another accident a worker of Chittagong Port was killed as a container hit him at Jetty No-11 on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Wahed Mia, 42, son of Nur Mohammad, hailed from Laxmipur district.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) outpost police official Rasel said: “Wahed was injured critically in the accident and rushed to CMCH where duty doctor declared him dead.”
In Noakhali two fishermen were killed in a trawler capsize in Meghna river near Chairmanghat point of Haita of the district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Sharif Uddin, 10, son of Nur Mohammad and Riaz, 14, son of Abdul Mannan of Ramgati upazila.
Sources said seven fishermen went to catch fish in Meghna River on Tuesday night. On their way back on Wednesday morning. The fishing trawler capsized in Chairmanghat point of the river due to strong current of water, leaving two fishermen drowned.
Five others fishermen managed to to the riverbank. Officer-in-Charge of Haita Thana Khurshed Alam confirmed the deaths.
