10 killed in Rajbari as two passenger buses collide early Friday

At least 10 people were killed and 40 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Rajbari-Faridpur Highway at Basantapur in sadar upazila early Friday.
Four of the deceased were identified as Alamgir, driver of Eagle Paribahan bus, Babu Fakir, supervisor of Global Paribahan bus, helper Jewel and passenger Payel.Highway Police camp in-charge Nazim Uddin said the accident took place around 3:30 am when a Barisal-bound bus of ‘Global Paribahan’ from Dhaka collided with a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Eagle Paribahan’, leaving eight people killed on the spot and 42 others injured. – UNB
Bdnews24.com reported: Rajbari highway police outpost Sergeant Lazim Uddin said, a Barisal-bound bus of ‘Global Paribahan’ from Dhaka and a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Eagle Paribahan’ from Khulna rammed into each other.
The Eagle Paribahan bus fell into a roadside ditch due to the impact of the collision while the other bus was heavily damaged.
Eight bodies were recovered from the scene, Sergeant Lazim said. They have been kept at the Goalanda intersection highway police outpost. It was not clear whether all the victims were from a single bus.
