Saudi Police on Monday arrested 11 Bangladesh workers for gambling in Taif and recovered a sum of 21,388 Saudi Riyal from their possession as part of its ongoing drive against the crime.
“The workers were caught red-handed while they were gambling in a building in Television Street in Taif, reports Arab News.The security patrol forces raided the site after receiving a tip off and arrested 11 persons involved in gambling with a net sum of SR21388, said a police statement.
Dr Athe Al-Quraishi, the police spokesperson for the Makkah region, said acting on a tip-off, Taif Police chief Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Suhaimi formed a team to arrest the offenders.
Quoting Qurashi, Saudi Gazette said police had received reports that an underground room was being used for gambling.
Later, they monitored the location on Television Street, verified the information and raided the room.
The accused were referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution for further proceedings. – UNB
