1,200 sued over clashes in DU

The authorities have slapped yet another case in connection with Thursday’s clashes and vandalism between demonstrators, seeking the scrapping of quotas in government jobs, and the police on the Dhaka University campus.Shahbagh police Sub Inspector Abdul Rauf filed the case on Thursday night against 1,200 people accusing them of attacking policemen, obstructing government work, and arson.
The station’s Inspector MA Jalil said only nine of those charged have been named.
They are Hafizur Rahman, Mirza Touhidul Islam, Sikdar Didarul Islam, Motiur Rahman, Mohammad Zahirul Islam, ‘Junaed’, Nurul Huda, Raihan Kawsar, and Mohammad Arif Hossain.
OC Sirajul Islam said they had been picked up from the campus on Thursday, while 15 others were detained on Friday. – bdnews24.com
