13 killed as passenger bus hits leguna in Natore

At least 13 people, including six women and a minor girl, were killed and 15 others injured in a fatal road crash on Natore-Pabna highway at Kadamchilan in Lalpur upazila on Saturday afternoon.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

The accident took place when a Bogura-bound bus of ‘Challenger Paribahan’ from Pabna hit a human-hauler (locally named as leguna) carrying 15 passengers around 4:10pm, leaving 13 passengers of the human-hauler dead on the spot and 15 bus travellers injured, said Biplob BijayTalukder, superintendent of Natore Police.

Bonpara highway police recovered the bodies.

Meanwhile, the district administration formed a 3-member probe committee, led by additional district magistrate Mohammad Saiduzzaman, which has been asked to submit report within five working days.

Besides, the local administration announced to provide TK 20,000 to each of the deceased’s families and Tk 10,000 to each of the injured victim’s families.
