The government has decided to provide subsidies and cash incentives to 14 export items, including readymade garments (RMG), vegetables, ships and light engineering products.In a circular issued on Sunday, the Foreign Exchange Policy Department (FEPD) of Bangladesh Bank (BB) said the export subsidies and cash incentives will be eligible for the exports shipped between July 1 this year and June 30, 2014.
The export subsidies and cash incentives include: 5 percent for the local RMG sector, 15-20 percent for handicraft, 20 percent for vegetables exports and agro-processing sector, 20 percent for Halal meat, 5 percent for ships and 7.5 percent for frozen shrimps. (Source: UNB)
