At least 15 shops and five houses were gutted by a fire that broke out in Borobazar area of the district town on Sunday night.
Pran Nath Saha, deputy director of Kishoreganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at umbrella factory of Shahjahan in the area at about 10:30 pm and it soon engulfed other 14 shops and five houses. On information, fire fighting units rushed to the spot and
extinguished the blaze with the help of locals at about 11:15 pm.The loss caused by the fire would go up to Tk2 crore, said Kamrul Hasan, president of Borobazar Byabosayee Samity. -UNB, Kishoreganj
