A case was filed against 150 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its
student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir early Thursday for unleashing
violence during Wednesday’s hartal in Kadamtala area in the outskirt
of the town.
Satkhira sadar thana police filed the case accusing the Jamaat-Shibir
men including district Jamaat secretary Nurul Huda.
Shajahan Khan, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station,
said on Wednesday, hartal supporters put up barricade on the road at
Kadamtola bazaar and clashed with police when they obstructed the
hartal supporters.
The pickets also vandalised eight vehicles in the area. Later, police
brought the situation under control by firing shots.
