15,000 benefit from ‘one house, one farm’

A total of 3,810 poor people of ten upazilas in the district were
given Taka 2.80 crore under “one house, one farm project” of the
government for purchasing milk cows, CIsheets, poultry birds,
vegetable seeds and saplings for improving their socioeconomic
conditions in the last three years.
Besides, 11,271 poverty-stricken people of the district were provided
over Taka 9.57 crore as loan from the government for taking different
agro-based income generating projects like setting up poultry and
dairy farms, nursery and fish production during the period.
Deputy Director of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) of the
district Aklasur Rahman said this while presenting a keynote paper on
“one house , one farm project” at a discussion meeting which was held
at the local public hall here on Sunday.
Veteran freedom fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, MP, addressed the
meeting as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona Anis
Mahmud in the chair.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by deputy project
director of “One house, one farm” project Akber Hussain, mayor of
Netrakona municipality Prasanta Ray, commander of district muktijoddha
sangsad Nurul Amin and war-wound freedom fighter Osman Gani Talukder.
Speaking at the meeting, Khasru said the present government took the
project with a view to freeing the country from poverty and ensuring
the socioeconomic development of the poor people.
Later, the meeting was followed by a prize distribution ceremony at
the public hall where Khasru distributed prizes among the project-
related persons including officials, public representatives and
beneficiaries for their contributions in implementation of the
project.
