District Relief and Rehabilitation Department has taken a programme to construct 17 bridges and culverts in the district.
District Relief and Rehabilitation office sources said, Disaster Management and Relief Ministry allotted Taka 3 crore 73 lakh for construction of the bridges and culverts.
The office said, out of the bridges and culverts, 2 each in Sarishabari, Madarganj, Bakshiganj and Dewanganj upazila and 3 each in Melandah, Islampur and Jamalpur Sadar upazila will be constructed.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Jahar Lal Das said, tender formalities have been completed and work order will be given very soon.
The construction work of the bridges and culverts will be completed by June next, he added.
