Dhaka, Jul 5 – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday asked her party MPs to close their gap with grassroots leaders and activists in their respective constituencies as the next general election will be a participatory one. She gave the instruction at a meeting of Awami League Parliamentary Party (ALPP) at the party’s conference room in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
A number of MPs who were present at the meeting told UNB wishing anonymity that the Prime Minister said the next national election will be an inclusive one, and directed them to work sincerely in their respective areas.
“The Prime Minister instructed us to take steps to close the gap with the grassroots leaders and activists in our areas and remove internal conflicts,” said a young ruling party MP.
The meeting also discussed the Constitution (17th Amendment) Bill 2018, which will be passed in Parliament next week for keeping aside 50 parliamentary seats exclusively for women for another 25 years.
In this regard, the Prime Minister asked the MPs to be present in the House on the day the bill will be passed.
On April 10 last, Law Minister Anisul Huq placed the Constitution (17th Amendment) Bill 2018 in the House. – UNB
