NOAKHALI: At least 18 shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Bhuyan Hat bazaar under Kabirhat Upazila of the district early Sunday.Witnesses said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at around 2:00am and spread out to the adjacent area.
On information, a fire fighting unit from Companiganj fire station rushed to the spot and doused the fire after two hours frantic efforts.
But, in the meantime 18 shops including Arafat store, Khaja Bakery, Yasin store, Riadh fruits and a CNG run auto rickshaw were burnt to ashes.
The extent of loss from the fire was primarily estimated about TK 2 crore, Fire Service sources said.
