Rajshahi, Dec 10 – The 70th International Human Rights Day was observed on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus on Monday amid much enthusiasm. This year, the theme of the day was ‘Stand up for Human Rights.’Marking the day, Law Department of the university brought out a colourful rally from Department premises at 10:00am. The rally paraded through the main streets of the campus and terminated at the previous place.
Later, a seminar was organized at the gallery room of Law Department at 10:30am. The Dean of Law Faculty Professor Dr. M Ahsan Kabir addressed the seminar as the chief guest with the chairman of Law Department Professor Dr. M. Abdul Hannan in the chair.
Lecturer of the department Salauddin Saimum presented the keynote paper at the seminar.
Prof Dr. Begum Asma Siddiqua, Prof Dr. M Anisur Rahman, Prof Dr. Sayeeda Anju, Prof Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim Mia, Prof Dr. Sahal Uddin, LL.M students Mahbub Ul Islam and Arindam Bishwas spoke at the function, among others.
Addressing the occasion, speakers said human rights are constantly being violated across the world. But no one is coming forward to save the victims. Over two hundred students of the department took part in the programme. – RU Correspondent
