Two Bangladesh workers have been killed after being trapped in wet concrete following the collapse of a floor being levelled at an LRT terminal construction site in Putra Heights near Petaling Jaya in Malaysia.
The bodies of the workers were recovered at 10.24 pm Wednesday and 1.10 am Thursday (Local time), Malaysia’s news agency Bernama reported on Thursday quoting Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations Mohd Sani Harul.He said the body recovered on Wednesday had been identified as that of Md Suman Mollah, in his 30s, while the body found on Thursday had yet to be identified.
The bodies were sent to the Serdang Hospital for postmortems.
Sani said the first floor where six workers were levelling wet concrete collapsed at 4.20 pm (Local time), trapping the two workers who were on the ground floor at the LRT terminal construction site in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Putra Heights.
Four of the six workers who fell along with the flooring were injured while two escaped unhurt, he said, adding that the injured workers were sent to the Putrajaya and Serdang hospitals.
Sani said the Selangor Fire and Rescue personnel called off the search-and-rescue operation after the second body was recovered early Thursday.
This is the second accident involving the LRT construction this year. In the first one, on June 26, a man and a woman were injured when a steel beam fell on a car at Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang. – UNB
