2 cops hurt in Rajshahi crude bomb attack

Rajshahi – Two policemen were injured in a crude bomb attack on a polling station in Paba upazila on Saturday evening. The injured were identified as constables Belal and Sajiul.Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shah Makhdum Police Station, said miscreants hurled 10 crude bombs targeting the policemen discharging election duty at a makeshift polling centre at local Baya Model Government Primary School around 6:15 pm.
The bombs detonated with a big bang, leaving Belal and Sujaul injured. Being informed, additional police rushed to the spot and fired blank shots to bring the situation under control.
The OC, however, said the explosion did not cause much damage to the polling centre. The injured were admitted to district Police Lines Hospital.
Police arrested five people on suspicion of their involvement in the incident. – UNB
