Two passengers were found dead and 10 others missing when a engine boat, locally called trawler, capsized in river Meghna after collision with a sand-laden vessel near Gazaria on Wednesday night.
According to reports the trawler carrying about 35 passengers set off from Bausia launch ghat at about 8-30 pm for Beltali river station in Chandpur to visit the mazar of Hazrat Solaiman Lengta. A sand-laden vessel coming from the opposite direction collided headon with the trawler near Bhashanchar.
According to reports many of the passengers managed to swim ashore. However 12 of them were reported missing. Of them the body of one passenger was recovered on Wednesday night and that of another on Thursday morning.
Search for the remaining passengers is on, according to a message received in Dhaka – News Desk
