Dhaka – Police arrested a sister and brother-in-law of the main perpetrator in connection with the stabbing of a schoolgirl from Uposhohor Para in the Jhenidah district town on Tuesday morning, UNB news agency reported.Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Harendranath Sarkar said a team of police conducted a drive in the area and detained the couple – Ruhul Amin and his wife Rupa, sister of prime accused Litu Hossain – in the morning.
Earlier, victim Puja Majumder’s father Bipul Majumder filed a case accusing five people including the couple with Sadar Police Station on Tuesday morning.
Puja Majumdar, a Class-IX student of Jamila Khatun Girls School in Modanmohanpara area of the town, was stabbed by a young man in the town on Monday reportedly for refusing a proposal for having an affair with.
The victim’s mother Shikha Majumdar claimed Litu Hossain used to harass her daughter on her way to and back from school as she refused his proposal.
On Monday evening, Litu stormed into the house of the schoolgirl and chopped her indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, leaving her injured.
The injured was admitted to Sadar Hospital in serious condition.
Medical officer at the Sadar Hospital Dr Masuduzzaman said they found deep injury marks in her head.
