2 Shibir leaders held over Satkhira AL leader murder

Joint force arrested two Shibir leaders from Kulia area in Debhata upazila on Saturday and the day before in connection with the Awami League leader Abu Raihan killing case.
Of them, Maruf is the main accused in the case.The arrestees were identified as Abul Kalam, secretary of Debhata upazila unit Shibir, and Maruf Hossain, a leader of the same unit.With the two, a total of 27 people have so far been arrested in the murder case.Tareque Biswas, officer-in-charge of Debhata Police Station, said on secret information, a team of the joint force, comprising members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh, conducted a drive in the area and arrested Maruf on Friday evening.After interrogation, Maruf confessed to his involvement in the killing
of Abu Raihan.The joint force, based on information from Maruf, conducted another drive in the area and arrested Abul Kalam early Saturday.Abul Kalam also confessed to his involvement in the killing of Abu Raihan.Chowdhury Monjurul Kabir, superintendent of police, Satkhira, confirmed the arrest.Abu Raihan,38, organising secretary of the upazila unit of the ruling AL, was stabbed to death by miscreants at Parulia Bazar in Debhata on November 21. -UNB, Satkhira
