2 siblings found slaughtered in Dhaka; Mother burnt

Police on Saturday morning recovered the slaughtered bodies of two siblings from a house in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area. Khilgaon zone senior assistant police commissioner Julfiker Ali said a team of the law enforcers recovered the bodies from a flat of the third floor of a six-storey building in Goran around 10am.
The deceased were identified as Jannat, 11, a student class IV of National Ideal School, and Alvi, 7, a student of Junior I of the same school.
Police also rescued burnt Arifunnesa Popy, 35, mother of the children, from the flat and sent her to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical college hospital.
The woman tried to take her own life by burning herself after slaughtering her two children with machetes, the police official added.
The daughter’s father Mozammel Hossain Biplob, a trader, lives in Munshiganj.
Quoting victim Popy Julfiker Ali said the woman tried to commit suicide after killing Jannat and Alvi following a feud with her husband over money.
