Two policewomen were killed and at least 20 others injured as a truck crushed into a bus carrying them in Fakirapul intersection in the capital on Sunday morning. The deceased were identified as constables Manira,20, and Aklima,22.
Police said a speeding truck slammed into a bus carrying some female police personnel from one side in the area at about 5:45 am, leaving Manira and Aklima dead on the spot and at least 20 others injured. Of the injured, Mali, Farida, Sohagi, Yeasmin, Sima, Shahnaz and Alfa were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while others to different hospitals.
