At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over pasting a poster on the occasion of the 32nd death anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman near Dema Madrasah in sadar upazila on Friday.Police said there had been a longstanding enmity between Sajib Torofdar, a union parishad member, and Mosaddek Hossain Dollar, joint secretary of the district unit of Juba Dal, over establishing supremacy in the area.
As a sequel to that, an altercation ensued between Rana Torofdar, supporter of Sajib Torofdar, and Nousher, Murad, Hafizul and Mahfuz,
supporters of Dollar, when Rana went to paste a poster of Ziaur Rahman, also founder of BNP, at his shop in the afternoon.
Later at least 200 supporters of both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other at about 4.00 pm, leaving 20 people
injured on both sides.
Of the injured, 10 were admitted to sadar hospital and other clinics.
