ICC WC: Shakib tops the run chart again with 476

Dhaka – Bangladeshi celebrated all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan regained the top slot in the scorers’ list of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup with 476 runs toppling Australian opener David Warner (447) after making 51 against Afghanistan at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Monday.
In the scorers’ list, England’s Joe Root is in the 3rd slot with 424 runs while Australia’s Aaron Finch in the 4th slot with 396 and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is in the 5th place with 373 runs.

With the feat, World number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has also emerged as the first Bangladeshi to reach the landmark of making 1000 runs in World Cups.

Earlier, Shakib also completed 6000 runs in the ODI cricket as the second Bangladeshi cricketer after Tamim Iqbal. Tamim played 177 matches while Shakib took 202 matches to reach the milestone.

Shakib scored 51 runs off 69 balls, featuring one boundary in the day’s match against Afghanistan to score a total of 1016 runs in World Cups before he fell victim of leg before wicket by Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman at 143 in 29.2 overs.

Shakib hit two centuries and three half centuries in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.

He smashed his first century (121) of this World Cup against England on June 8 and hit the 2nd ton contributing an unbeaten 124 against West Indies on June 17.

Shakib also hit fifties — 75 against South Africa on June 2 and 64 against New Zealand on June 5 — apart from making 41 runs against Australia on June 20.
