Div-level program by 20-Party in July for Khaleda’s release

Dhaka, June 24 – The BNP-led 20-party alliance will take up a political course of action in July at divisional headquarters including the capital city of Dhaka demanding the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the alliance held at BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Monday.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the meeting.
Briefing reporters, BNP standing committee member and chief coordinator of the 20-party alliance Nazrul Islam Khan said the meeting protested and condemned confining of Khaleda Zia in jail out of political vengience.
“The alliance decided talking a political course of action at city level including Dhaka to press home the demand to release of Begum Zia,” he said.
“The specific programme will be deternined in the next meeting of the alliance.”
Replying to a question, he said 20-party alliance is a big power. The unity of the alliance remains intact and there is no crises in it, he added.
Insiders said the meeting began at 7:30pm rejected the proposed national budget for 2019-20 fiscal terming it ani-people.
The meeting also discussed the latest development in the political arena, and contemporary issues including ensuring fair price of agricultural produces.
Advocate MA Rakib of Islami Oikya Jote, Zafrullah Khan Chowdhury of Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar), Maulana Noor Hossain Kasemi of Jomiyat-e-Ulamaye Islam, Mostafizur Rahman Iran of Labour Party, Saifuddin Ahmed Moni of Democratice Party, among others, were present at the meeting.
However, no representative from Jamaat–e-Islami was present at the meeting. – Staff Reporter
