Two busses catch fire in capital city

Dhaka, Dec 7 – Two passenger buses, including a double-decker BRTC bus, caught fire in the city’s Karwan Bazar and Kurmitola areas on Saturday. Sources at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) headquarters said a passenger bus of Trust Transport Service Limited caught fire at around 3:15 pm at Karwan Bazar.
A fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 3:35 pm, said duty officer of the FSCD control room Rima Khan.
Officer-in-charge of Tejgaon police station Shahriar Rashid said the bus engine caught fire due to technical fault.
Meanwhile, a double-decker passenger bus of BRTC caught fire near Kurmitola General Hospital around 3:50 pm.
Members of a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 4:22 pm, said Rima Khan of FSCD control room adding that the cause of the bus fire could not be ascertained immediately.
Kazi Shahan Hoque, officer-in-Charge of Cantonment police station, said the bus caught fire due to mechanical fault.
However, no casualty was reported in the fire incidents. -UNB
