Three people died reportedly after taking toxic liquor at a marriage ceremony at Bhagabanpur village in Palashbari upazila of the district.
The deceased were identified as Mukhlal Das, 48, son of Motilal Das of the village, Robilal Das, 35, son of Lakkhan Lal Das of Sutrapur in Bogra district, and Bhasani Robi Das, 40, son of Zagaram Robi Das of Shapla Chattar in Rangpur city.
Police and family members said Mukhlal, Robilal and Bhasani took liquor after the marriage ceremony of Mukhlal’s daughter Nila Rani Das on the night of February 28.
They fell sick soon after swallowing the liquor and Mukhlal died on the spot.
Robilal was admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra while Bhasani was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Robilal died at the Bogra hospital in the early hours of Monday while Bhasani died at the Rangpur hospital on Monday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station Mujibur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying no case was filed in this connection.- UNB
