Manikganj – Three people, including a woman, were killed and 28 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Manra on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Sadar upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Suman Bepari,28, and the bus supervisor Nazrul Islam,40, both residents of Gournadi area, and Anju Dey,50, a resident of Karfa village in Wazirpur upazila of Barisal district.
Sub-inspector of Golora Highway Police Station Mohammad Enamul Haque said a Barisal-bound night coach of ‘Eagle Paribahan’ service from Dhaka fell into a roadside ditch when its driver lost control over the steering and hit a roadside tree in the area at about 1:30am, leaving the three people dead on the spot and 28 others injured.
The injured were admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital from where 23 of them were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
