Death toll in trawler capsize in the Meghna now 9

The death toll from Thursday’s trawler capsize in the Meghna River here rose to nine with recovery of six more bodies on Friday morning.
Seven of the deceased were identified as Ummeli, 04, Sumiya, 08, Faysal, 06, Bayezid, 02, all were the children of Faurk Hossain, a resident of Baikarchar, Nuri Begum alias, Nurjahan, 60, wife of Shahabuddin of Bogarroute village, Falani Begum, 60, wife of Late Rofu Miah of the same village and Farzana, 08, daughter of Shawpan Miah, hailing from Kalikapur village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila.Fire fighters and BIWTA workers retrieved the six bodies in the morning.
Earlier, on Thursday three people including a minor boy drowned and six others went missing as a trawler sank in the Meghna River with 60/70 passengers on board amid storm while heading towards Bogargoat village under Karimpur union from Puran Char in Sadar upazila around 2 pm.
Most of the passengers managed to swim ashore while the nine remained missing. Later, three bodies were recovered from the river on Thursday.
An earlier report said, three people, including a minor boy, drowned and six others went missing as a trawler capsized in the MeghnaRiver in Narsingdi amid storm on Thursday.
Among the deceased, one was identified as Bayezid,2.
Officer-in-charge of sadar police staion KM Abul Kashem said the trawler carrying 60/70 passengers sank in the river while heading towards Bogargoat village under Karimpur union from Puran Char in Sadar upazila around 2 pm.
