Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives arrested three alleged drug peddlers and recovered 704 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup and 35 bottles of liquor in Damurhuda and Jibannagar upazilas on Monday.
A special patrol team of BGB arrested a drug peddler named Saidur Rahman, 35, along with 142 bottles of Phensidyl from Darshana Halt Chandpur area early Monday, said a press release from BGB-6 of Chuadanga headquarters.
The same team recovered 144 bottles of Phensidyl and 35 bottles of wine from a field of Haldarpara village and 50 bottles of Indian Phensidyl from a beel (water ground) of Gowespur village of Jibannagar upazila in an abandoned condition at noon.
Besides, BGB members arrested two drug peddlers—Arifin Ali, 28, and Mohor Ali, 18, — along with 477 bottles of Phensidyl from Jibannagar upazila headquarters in the afternoon.
Director of BGB-6 Lt. Col. SM Moniruzzaman said the market value of the seized drugs was Tk7.3 lakh. -UNB
