3 including female Ansar missing as trawler sinks in Meghna

Munshiganj, Mar 31 – A presiding officer, a policeman and a female Ansar member went missing as a trawler, carrying 19 election officials, capsized in the Meghna River during a sudden storm at Char Hogla in Sonargaon Upazila on Sunday evening.
Those who went missing were identified as presiding officer Burhanuddin, sub-inspector Selim of Narayanganj Traffic Police and Rikta Akhter, 35.
The incident took place around 6 pm when the trawler, carrying the 19 people and election materials used in the 4th phase of Upazila elections, was heading towards Sonargaon upazila from Char Kishorganj, said Md Jayedul Alam, superintendent of Munshiganj Police.
Meanwhile, members of law enforcement agencies rescued the remaining 16 officials, including presiding officers, Jayedul Alam added. – UNB
