Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three Indian citizens for intruding into Bangladesh territory along with 1,100 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from Mirganj border area in Bagha upazila of the district on Tuesday night.The arrestees were identified as Sanaul Sheikh, 28, Ayiub Nabi, 25, and Babu Shiekh, 20, all hailing from Kagmarirchar under Jolangi Police Station of Murshidabad district in India.The arrestees illegally entered the Bangladesh territory through the Padma River with the Phensidyl syrup, said additional director of BGB-37 battalion H Kamrul Hasan.Later, a patrol team of the border security force, led by Subedar Mohammed Ali Khan of Mirganj BOP, challenged the trio.However, sensing the presence of BGB, they threw the bottles of Phensidyl syrup into the river and entered Bangladesh territory.On information, another patrol team of Mirganj BOP conducted a drive at Alaipur village and arrested the smugglers while they were hiding at the house of one Abdul Bari at the village.They confessed to their guilt during the primary interrogation.Later, they were handed over to Bagha Police Station. -UNB, Rajshahi
