3 Jamaat men held from ‘secret meeting’ in C’nawabganj

Police in a drive arrested a leader and two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami while they were holding a ‘clandestine meeting’ at Chowdala in Gomastapur upazila on Monday afternoon.

The arrested were identified as Ekramul Haque,48, superintendent of Chowdala Dakhil Madrasa and an activist of Jamaat, Tariqul Islam,32, assistant secretary of Chowdala union unit Jamaat, and Alauddin, a Jamaat activist.

Firoz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gomastapur Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police launched a raid at the madrasa in the area and arrested the trio while they were holding a secret meeting there at about 2:00 pm.

However, their other associates fled the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
