Dhaka – Three minor girls drowned while taking bath in the Meghna River at Ibrahimpur village of Sadar upazila here on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Akhter, 6, daughter of Swapan Rarhi, Mariam, 6, daughter of Md Jahangir Gazi, and Marzia, 7, daughter of Barek Gazi of the village.
Local UP member Mannan Gazi said like every day, several children of the village went to the river at noon for taking bath. However, three of them went missing.
Later, their floating bodies were retrieved from the river, he said.A pall of gloom descended on the village following the incident.UNB
