Noakhali – Three alleged pirates, including the ringleader, were killed in a lynch-mob attack in Killarchar area of Hatiya upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Faruque, 45, the kingpin of ‘Faruque Bahini’, and his cohorts Miraj, 31, and Kalu, 40 Witnesses said around 200 people encircled a gang of pirates while they were entering the Killarchar area around 2pm.Later, the angry mob gave them a good beating, killing the trio on the spot and injuring another — Nur Uddin.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Noakhali Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. They also arrested injured Nur Uddin.
Confirming the incident, Hatiya Police Station officer-in-charge Syed Md Fazle Rabbi said Faruque was accused in several cases, including of robbery, arson and looting. – UNB
