3 remanded over Tangail Hindu tailor murder

Tangail  – A court here on Monday placed three people, arrested in connection with the killing of Hindu tailor Nikhil Chandra Joarder, on a six-day remand over the gruesome murder.Those who remanded are Gopalpur upazila unit Jamaat general secretary Rafiqul Islam Badshah, madrasah teacher Maulana Amirul Islam and BNP activist Jhantu Miah.Judge of the Senior Judicial Magistrate and Gopalpur cognisance court Anjan Kanti Das passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) of police produced them before the court seeking seven days’ remand each in two cases filed over the incident, said DB sub-inspector Tofazzal Hossain. Detectives detained Rafiqul Islam Badshah and Jhantu Miah, son of late Abdur Rashid of Bironhara village of Gopalpur upazila, from their respective houses in the upazila headquarters and Alamnagar on Sunday while madrasah teacher Maulana Amirul Islam from his home at Dattabari village in Madhupur upazila of the district on Saturday for interrogation in connection with the killing of the tailor.Victim’s wife Aroti Rani Joardar filed a killing case against three unidentified people with Gopalpur Police Station on Saturday night while sub-inspector of Mokshed Ali filed the other case against theme on Sunday morning under the Explosive Substances Act.The Hindu tailor was chopped to death by assailants at Dubail Bazar in Gopalpur upazila around 11:30 am on Saturday.Three youths riding a motorcycle appeared before the tailoring shop of Nikhil, 45, while he was working there and killed him after calling him out of the shop.
