BJMC reas Federaton Cup semis beating Sk Russel in shoutout

Dhaka – Team BJMC moved into the semifinals of the Walton Federation Cup Football Tournament eliminating defending champions Sheikh Russell KC by 5-4 goals in the sudden death session of the tie breaker at the floodlit Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday evening.The 4th and last quarterfinal match between the two teams was locked in 2-2 during the stipulated 90-minute period and also in the extra time.
Team BJMC will play the 2nd semifinal against Muktijoddha Sangsad KC on Saturday while Dhaka Abahani Limited will face star-studded Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the first semifinal on Friday.
In the day’s tie breaker, Rodriguez, Francis, Amne and Mithun converted spot kicks correctly while Shakil and Rezaul spoiled the spot kicks.
On the other hand, Iliasu, Ismael, Faisal, Ikanga and Felix scored from penalty shootout while Saif’s attempt was brilliantly saved by Sheikh Russell custodian Biplob.
In the scheduled time, Sheikh Russell KC took the lead in the 22nd minute by a suicidal goal by Saif (1-0) while BJMC captain Ikanga restored the parity in the 38th minute.
Usucar put Sheikh Russell KC ahead in the 59th minute from a penalty goal while Team BJMC again leveled the margin by a suicidal goal by Am in the 73rd minute (2-2). – UNB
