BANDARBAN – Thirty-five shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Prodhan bazaar under Gozalia union of the district on Saturday evening, police said.
Owners of the shops said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop and soon engulfed the adjacent shops.
Fire fighters from Chokoria upazila sadar rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
Upazila Chairman of Lama Mohammad Ismail, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Helal Uddin and local Union Parishad Chairman Batuaiching Marma visited the fire affected Gojalia bazar and distributed relief goods among the affected shopkeepers. – BSS
