Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized 378
kilograms of hilsa fish worth Tk3.78 lakh from Bhomra border in Sadar
upazila of the district early Wednesday.
Major Majhar, operation officer of Satkhira BGB battalion-38, said on
secret information that some people were smuggling huge quantity of
hilsa to India through Bhomra, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the
area and seized the fish along with a private car.
Sensing the presence of the BGB team, smugglers managed to flee the
scene, said Majhar.
The seized fish was handed over to Satkhira Customs office, added Majhar.
A case was filed with Satkhira Sadar Police Station. –UNB Satkhira
