Some 396 poor people of Khordokomorpur union of Sadullapur upazila here got spray
machines, tube wells and sanitary materials worth about Tk eight lakh from Local
Government Support Project (LGSP)-2.
The objective of the equipment distribution was to help the poor of the union so that they
could be self-reliant gradually through overcoming their hardship.
A simple function organized by union parishad (UP) was also held on its premises on
Thursday noon with UP Chairman M. Alam Prodhan in the chair.
Deputy Director (DD) of local government section of deputy commissioner’s office Dr.
Mallick Anwar Hossain attended the function as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, DD Dr. Mallick Anwar Hossain said the government
introduced the gigantic LGSP in all the 82 unions of the district to carryout various
welfare and development activities for the people and to strengthen the local government
at the grassroots level as well.
Later, the guest formally distributed 150 spray machines, 51 tube wells, 195 sets of
sanitary material purchased from the fund of the project to the poor of the union.
A large number of people including union level officials, political leaders, public
representatives, local elite and invited guests including journalists were present on the
