Two children were drowned in a pond at Durgapur union under Ulipur
upazila in Kurigram district at noon on Thursday.The deceased were
identified as Mashikur Rahman 7 son of Rafikul Islam and his cousin
Moznu Miah 7 son of Lal Miah of village Jamuna Dalimerpar under
Durgapur union fof the upazila. They went to the pond to take a bath
and at one stage they were drowned. Later the inmates of their house
recovered them throughing a net in the pond. Resident Medical Officer
of Kurigram Sadar Hospital Dr. Nazrul Islam told New Nation that the
children were taken to Hospital in a dead condition. A pathetic shock
was prevailing in the area following the incident.
Two schoolgirls drowned in a pond at Char Hasan Hossain village in
Ramgati upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Shahnaj Akhter Lipi, a Class-V student
of and daughter of Mahbubur Rahman, and Zobaida Akhter Meem, a
Class-II student and daughter of Momin Ullah of the village.
Locals said Lipi and Meem slipped into the pond while playing on the
bank of the water body near their houses at noon.
Later, locals rescued the girls from the pond and took them to
Alexander Health Complex where doctors declared the duo dead. Our Correspondent,Kurigram.
