4 hurt in sugar mill boiler blast in BD’s Joypurhat

Dhaka – Four staff, including an engineer, of Joypurhat Sugar Mills Limited received burn injuries in a boiler explosion at the mill here on Friday afternoon.
The injured are Shahjahan Kibria, 38, deputy assistant engineer, two firemen Nazmul Hossain, 34, and Lutfar Rahman, 46, and fitter Abdul Hannan, 31. UNB news agency reported
Mostafa Kamal, managing director of the mill, said a team of 5-6 officials and employees was examining the boiler around 4:45 pm in the run-up to the sugarcane crushing that was set to begin on December 9 at the country’s largest mill.
The explosion took place as a bulb of the steam line pipe-3 burst off while checking, leaving the four injured.
The injured were first taken to Joypurhat Modern Hospital from where Shahjahan and Nazmul were shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra.
