Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over four Bangladeshi women, who languished in a
jail for one year for intruding into India, to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Bhomra border
in Sadar upazila on Monday morning.
The returnees were identified as Laizu Khatun, 32, of Zianagar upazila of Pirojpur, Mahfuza
Khatun, 28, and Runa Akhter, 32, of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj and Shahnaj Akhter, 28, of
Savar upazila of Dhaka district.
BSF troops arrested the four women from Bashirhat area of Uttar 24 Parganas district of West
Bengal in December last year as they entered the Indian territory illegally, said Major Majharul
Islam, operation officer of BGB Battalion-38.
They were later sent to an Indian jail after they were produced before a court.
Officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Enamul Haque said BSF Ghojadanga camp
members handed over the four Bangladeshi women to BGB Bhomra camp commander in the
morning.
Later, BGB handed over to the returnees to Satkhira Sadar Police Station. -UNB, Satkhira
