President stresses improving higher education standard

President Abdul Hamid on Sunday underscored the need for improving the standard of higher education in the country. The President said this when a 10-member delegation of Chittagong University, led by its Vice Chancellor Prof Anwarul Azim Arif, met him at Bangabhaban.During the meeting, the delegation apprised the President of various activities of the university and said the university now has eight faculties and 43 departments. They said the construction on ‘Sheikh Hasina Hall’ is likely to complete by June this year. The delegation apprised Hamid, who is also the Chancellor of the university, of its problems, including transport and accommodation crises of its teachers. The President expressed satisfaction at the activities of the university and assured the delegation of his all possible support to solve the problems they are facing.
